What I Do at
Easley Library: Basically, when
you need a book and Easley Library doesn't have it, I'm the person you
come to. I specialize in finding those much needed resources for
those research papers you just can't live without. I'm here to
assist you, the student, and will try to be as much help as possible.
-
In my Free Time:
I'm one of those "eclectic" people who likes to do a little bit of
everything. I love to read, and I love music (as a listener).
I'm always writing. I have a few hobbies such as sewing,
crocheting, gardening, pottery, and playing with the cat. I take
joy in the simple things in life, and depend on Laughter, the Lord,
and the Little Things to keep me going. I'm usually to be found
in the company of my family, particularly my best friend Mama.
I'm just a good old-fashioned Southern girl, and I reckon that's all
right!

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Believe me, I know what it's like to be on the
other side of this desk. I was a student at Bluefield College for
four years, earning a major in history and minor in literature.
Those two fields required a lot of books, and I kept the ILL desk
hopping with my piles of required resources. I've done so much
research over the past four years that there isn't much I can't find.
Feel free to ask me anything. There isn't a single stupid question
I haven't asked, and it's always good to know that someone else has been
there.

PERSONAL
NOTE
It is by the grace of God and the talent He has given me that I'm
happy to announce the release of my new book, Flowers on the
Milkstool. Set in 1871 Kansas, it tells the story of the
Lawson family through the diary of Mary, the only daughter in the
family. As she recounts the family's trials and struggles as
well as their joys and triumphs, she discovers the power of faith
and love. In reading Mary's story, you too will discover that
life can be a little sweeter when it is trusted to the powerful and
loving hand of God. This book is now available at

Being a Writer:
If you are thinking of
choosing writing as your profession, I will give you fair warning:
it is a difficult but most rewarding profession. I have been
writing since I was twelve years old, and ever since then I have
never been more comfortable than when I have a pen in my hand.
I have allowed a select few people to read my work, and at their
collective urging I have published one of my books (see above).
Though only this one has been released to the public, I have
currently completed five more novels, and am working on six more.
(Your gasps and chuckles here).
That's right, I am working
on six (or more) different projects at once. I used to think that I
couldn't give my full attention to more than one story at a time,
but then I discovered that I was cheating one story by rushing
through it in my haste to begin another. Now, I start as many
as I like, working on each when I feel inspired. It does no
good to write when it's forced, so I do things my own way. I
expect that sometime in the distant future, each of these books will
be published, and I will be able to share more of the gift God has
given me. I know that this talent was given to me by God for a
specific purpose, and I am trying to use it to the best of my
ability for His glory.
You may seek to approach me
about my writing, or to comment on my book. This would be a
joy to me, but remember that I will likely be shy and timid.
It isn't because I'm one of those reclusive authors who hides in a
shell and occasionally chooses to grace the world with his or her presence.
Not so. It is merely my distaste of being the center of
attention. I would much rather fade into the background and
let my books do all the talking.
Let me know if you are a
writer, and what sorts of things you're working on. I always
like to hear about how others are using their talents, and allow the
sharing of ideas to take place. Writing is such a powerful
tool. If only all the writers would decide to use their powers
for good. |
