CHECK-OUT POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

Use of Library: All Bluefield College students, faculty, and staff may use the resources and services of the Library whenever it is open. Community patrons may use the Library when it is open but must sign in at the circulation desk when first entering the library if requested to do so.

Circulation: A Bluefield College ID or Community Patron ID is required for borrowing any materials. Loan periods are as follows:

STUDENTS:

  • Books=4 weeks

  • Videos/DVD's=3 days

  • CDs=2 weeks

FACULTY/STAFF

  • Books=6 weeks

  • Videos/DVD's=7 days

  • CDs=2 weeks

  • Equipment = one week

COMMUNITY PATRONS

  • Books=2 weeks (five book limit)

  • All other materials=non-circulating

  • Computers on the mezzanine level can be used for searching the catalog, but access to other computers is not available.

OVERDUES:

  • Books................$.10 per day (five-day grace period)

  • Videos/DVD's/CDs.........$.50 per day (two-day grace period)

  • Reserves............$.25 per hour

  • Interlibrary loan...$.50 per day

  • Faculty/Staff are not charged overdue fines, except for interlibrary loan books.  Replacement fees are charged, however, if something is lost or damaged.

Suggesting a Purchase:

We encourage students to suggest titles of books and videos for purchase. Please email your suggestions to our Collection Development Librarian, Werner Lind, and include as much bibliographic information as possible about the material you are recommending.
