Theodore Ziolkowski (Professor of German and Comparative Literature, Princeton) has written on a wide variety of topics in German literature (e.g., Das Wunderjahr in Jena, 1794/5), and recently he has shown how the institution of modern geology had a major impact on the Early Romantic understanding of nature.
